VT Designs - Vince's World

Portfolio

This page is dedicated to some of the Web sites I have built. The images are screen shots of the sites that are being explained. To view the site, or larger image of the site, click on the image to the right of the description.

The law firm Goodman & Shaw contacted me to create a site for them. They wanted a presence on the web to reach out to more clients. I met with the client and discussed options. We reached an agreement and I began building the site. They provided me with the content and I took care of all the design. I was given a list of sites in which they liked the design. I combined the styles and layouts from the sites they provided me and came up with this design. I also helped them get set up with new hosting.

This site was put together to provide information and allow visitors to contact the attorneys. They can also view a photo and profile of the attorneys. Information is given about the history of the firm and also the locations of the firm.

The Salon 256 site was created for a salon located in Birdsboro, PA. The client came to VTR Designs looking for a way to advertise more frequently and spread the word about their business. They wanted to generate more clients and have a web presence. Everything that was created for this site was done solely by Vince Wertman. He created everything from the photographs to the database. This site features an area where visitors can view the staff at Salon 256 and what they specialize in. When the user navigates to the "Staff" page they will see a list of all that work there. When the user clicks on the name of staff members, they are taken to a detailed page of the that person. Along with the staff members are pages that list all of the services that are offered and the price relative to that service. This gives users the ability to estimate what the price will be for something they may want done. The users are also given the opportunity to contact the salon with any questions, comments, or new ideas.

The Queen Bean Coffee Bar and Cafe was created as a group effort. We were given a functional specification, which we reviewed and made notes. We then met with the client and discussed what exactly was to be built. The site was built using Macromedia ColdFusion as the server-side language. We were asked to provide E-commerce capabilites so the client could sell their product through the site. To accomplish the shopping cart feature we integrated Paypal's shopping cart system. This site also has a full-featured control panel which allows the client to make any changes to the dynamic information. The site also features a Flash introduction in the form of a pop-up and a Flash "menu" that lists what the cafe offers. The total development time for this project from start to finish was 11 weeks.

This site is no longer online. The owner of The Queen Bean Coffee Bar and Cafe has moved on to a new business venture.

This site was done using RDS which is a Microsoft technology based on XML, and ASP. In order to make the site more eye pleasing, Adobe Photoshop was used. Photographs of three of the timepiece manufacturers that are featured on the site were placed in the banner. The overall design of the site was done with the use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Everything was formatted to have the same look and feel. I even changed the look of the input buttons so that they had the same color as the rest of the site. The information on the timepieces was stored in a database and presented dynamically on the site. This makes updating and changing the site more simple. When information in the database is changed, it is automatically changed on the site. No changes need to be made to the site itself to change the information.

Since many of the sites today are dynamic and used to generate busines, I built a site that allows users to buy products online. The images and product descriptions were borrowed from a business that already exists. This site was not posted online and used only as a school project. The shopping cart software that was used was the VP-ASP Comprehensive Shopping Cart. In order to make the site look like unique, changes had to made to many of the pages. An understanding of where to go in order to make the appropriate changes was needed. The banner at the top of the page was created to display the name of the psuedo-company and the brands featured. The creation of this sight was done to demonstrate what is involved when creating an e-commerce site. This project proved to be a valuable lesson in the dynamics of beginning a business online.

If it is autographed celebrity photographs that you enjoy then this site would be for you. This site was created as a final for a Macromedia Dreamweaver MX II class. The assignment was to create a dynamic Web site that could be update, changed, or added on with minimal knowledge of HTML. This was all done using an administration panel. The administration section of the site was only accessible to those who had the privledges to access that area of the site. There are three options in the administration area of the site which are insert, update, and delete. The insert page allows the person to insert new autographed photographs to be displayed on the site. The update page allows the person to update information on whichever record they choose. They can changed the price, photo, name, and description. The delete page allows the person to choose a record to delete. A search function was also added to this site so that the user may search for a celebrity.

Many people like Macromedia Flash. This site was created using that technology. This was my second project that was done in Flash. My first project was mainly presentation. This site was more functional than visual. We learned the dynamics of action scripting for this project. This site implies many techniques that generate dynamic content. Those such techniques are as follows; Color change: I was able to create action scripting that allows the user to change colors of a ball. These colors were predetermined by me and can only be changed to them. Rotation: I allows the user to click on a button that makes the wheel on the screen spin. Alpha: I was a little more creative with this feature. Instead of just having an object disappear I decided to "transport" an object from one area to another. When you click on one button the image begins to disappear from one area and reappear in another. Text Box: This is a simple text box that scrolls and is draggable. Size: I allow the user to change the size of an object. I also set limitations to this scripting so that the object did not get too large or too small. Gravity: I created a ball which reacts as if it were being thrown or bounced. Other features I added were time and date.

This is the first site I did using Macromedia Flash. This was a final project for my Flash class. We were asked to create a seven page site with a splash introduction. I choose to do my site on the television show "Friends." I thought that since there were six characters on the show it would fit perfectly with the project. The splash introduction is similar the beginning of the show on television. I had the theme song playing and going through several photographs of the stars of the show. Each page has a different effect to it. I did not want every page to be the same so I tried to be as creative as I could at the time. When I did this project I had only been working with Flash for 6 weeks. I tried to make this site as eye pleasing as possible with the knowledge of the software that I had.

This is one page of a seven page storyboard I did for a final using Photoshop. This was a class project. We were asked to create a storyboard for a potential web site. It had to be at least six pages and apply much of what we had learned over the term. I chose to do mine on cars from America and overseas. I choose the title "Hot Rides From Different Sides" due to the fact that they are from different sides of the sea. I chose the car manufactures that I most like. Of course the decision to use these vehicles was personal choice. This project was the first more involved project I did using Photoshop. It was given as a final project for the class. Since doing this, I have used Photoshop to create banners for many of the sites I create. I find Photoshop easy to use in the creation of web site banners. If you click on the photo you can see a larger image of the page. If you click here Photoshop you can see some of the work I have done using Photoshop. The page you will go to is not everything I have done, just a few examples from when I first starting using the software.

This was the second site I built. For our class final we had to create a ten page web site that would serve as a portfolio. I created this site in the second quarter of my education at Allentown Business School. I decided not to use this site as my portfolio since I had learned new skills and technologies since then. I did take some of the content and ideas from this site, however. Certain things on this I decided not to use on any of my other projects, such as the marquee. On that site there are some examples of work I have done using Adobe Photoshop. I have since done much more using Photoshop. The logo on this site I created using Photoshop as well. I changed the design of my logo for the VTR Designs site. This site does not reflect the work I can currently do. As I said, this was really the first site that I created.
